Superb water carafe by Peter Hertz, Danish goldsmith, hallmarked in Copenhagen in 1908. In solid silver, fineness 826/000, this superb piece of goldsmithery of great elegance and sobriety, is attributable by its line to Johan Rhode who worked for Peter Hertz and Georg Jensen. No decoration except the metal hem at the collar which extends on both sides of the handle discreetly attached to the body by a slight sabot ending. Dated 1908, which ranks it among the earliest pieces of this style which we know will not find a large audience until after the First World War.
Good condition, some slight defects of use, a shock on the upper part of the handle.
