Denarius of Thoria
Denarius of Thoria, Roman Republic , 111 BC, in silver. The Thoria family is known only from two representatives: Sp. Thorius Balbus, tribune of the people in 111 BC, author of an agrarian law and L. Thorius Balbus, the moneyer. This one was from Lanuvium, it is for this reason that the head of Juno appears on his coins, while the bull phonetically recalls the name of Thorius.
Obverse VF – Head to the right of Junon Lanuvienne, covered with goatskin. Reverse VF – Furious bull leaping right. 3.9 grams, BAB 1
